What can be fished

Description

River Hvítá in Árnessýsla is an underestimated fishing river. A huge number of fish pass through it every year, including salmon, sea trout and Arctic char. Hvítá has a good stock of salmon itself but is also a migration route for salmon on their way to other rivers in the catchment. The Skálholt section of Hvítá is just below Hvítárbrú by Iða. It has been in private use for a long time, but now the public can buy fishing licenses there.

Fishing rules

The beat is fished with two rods, and they are sold together as a package. Single days are sold and fished from the morning to the evening, with a traditional rest in the middle of the day.

Directions

The fishing area stretches from the confluence of Undapolli, at the so-called Torfholt, slightly below Hvítárbrú by Laugarás and down the entire Skálholtstunga, all the way down to the confluence with Brúará.
