What can be fished

Description

Straumar is probably one of the most popular two rod fishing areas in Iceland, with good average catches and a nice lodge that is specially designed for small groups and families. The fishing area is very popular due to the fact that enormous number of salmon migrate through the area on their way to the salmon rivers further upstream. The salmon are heading to Þverá, Norðurá og Gljúfurá. Also, there are salmon staying in Straumar for the whole season. From the middle of July, sea trout can also be caught and in late summer/autumn they become a larger part of the catch.
