What can be fished

The Kvíslavötn lakes are a good walk on the west side of Arnarvatnsvegur, in a straight direction from Hólmavatn which lies by the road. Here are the main sources of Núpsá, which is a part of the popular fishing area of River Miðfjarðará. There is one main lake, and it is at 410 m above sea level and 0.80 km² in area. In Kvíslavötn there are good fish, both brown trout and Arctic char and the average size is about 2 pounds.

It is permitted to fish on all banks in all lakes There are two ways to get to the lakes, either via a jeep trail in Núpsdalur and then walk to the lakes, which takes one to one and a half hours. Or take Arnarvatnsvegur and walk from there, which is shorter but the trail is quite difficult due to moorland. Therefore, that walk takes about the same time.
