What can be fished

Description

Laxá í Dölum is one of the best salmon rivers in Iceland and few rivers have a higher average catch per day-rod. This famous pearl has many fans. There is enough space for anglers both by the river and in the fishing lodge by Þrándargil. The river is well suited for those who want to use single handed rods in a productive salmon river, especially if they are interested in the historical sites of the Icelandic sagas. Laxá is known for huge catches in a wet season. Only fly fishing is allowed during the summer.

Accommodation & Facilities

Angling lodge

The fishing lodge by Þrándargil is elegant and spacious. There are eight double rooms for guests, a cozy dining room and a lounge, as well as a sauna. Full catering is offered for anglers, but during some parts of the season guests can take care of the cooking themselves upon request. Dogs are not allowed in the lodge.
