What can be fished

Laxá in Leirársveit is a nice salmon river and has been among the top Icelandic rivers, with the most catches. It has about 70 diverse salmon pools, most of them with good access. The river is extremely convenient for fly fishing. A salmon ladder was built into the waterfall Eyrarfoss in 1950 and rebuilt in 1970. This increased salmon migration to the upper part of the river. Laxá in Leirársveit has one of the most notable salmon pools in Iceland, the amazing Miðfellsfljót.

Recently, a new dining room has been added  in addition to a nice lounge for anglers. On the outdoor porch is a hot tub. It’s possible to choose food at different price levels.

The fishing area extends from the fishing spot at Breiðan, just below Lake Eyrarvatn, down to Klapparhylur. In total, it is about 14 km.
