Description
Lake Laxárvatn is one of the sources of Laxá in Döllum, is about 0.5 km² in size and at about 150m above sea level. It is located just north of Laxárdalsvegur, number 59, near the farm Sólheimar. There is good fishing in the lake but only for brown trout. The common size of fish is 1-3 pounds.

It is possible to camp by the lake free of charge at your own risk and in consultation with the landowner, as there are no sanitary facilities.
Fishing rules
Anglers must register on arrival at the farm Sólheimar before fishing, but the fishing card and ID must be shown. Anglers also receive a fishing report form, which must be completed at the end of the fishing. All traffic on motorcycles and ATVs is prohibited except in consultation with the fishing guard. Children under the age of 14 fish for free with a cardholder. Dogs are not allowed in the area.
Directions
Drive along Bröttabrekka towards Búðardalur, if you come from the south, otherwise follow the traditional routes from North Iceland or the Westfjords. Just before reaching Laxá in Dölum, turn up Laxárdalur and drive to the farm Sólheimar to register. To get to the lake, it is best to go on an old road, which runs from the main road and down by Lægðarlækur, where you can park your car and walk down to the lake. It is permitted to fish in the whole lake
