Description

River Skálmardalsá flows into Skálmarfjörð, on the south side of the Westfjords and is an extremely productive and popular sea-char river. Probably, the fjord gets its name because deep in the valley it is divided into two and the river runs in the eastern one underneath Klettsháls. The river gets its source from small lakes in the highlands. A good sea-char fishing is in river Skálmardalsá, often from 300 to 900 fish per/day.
