What can be fished

Sléttuhlíðarvatn is 0.76 km² in size and 14 m. The lake has char and good numbers of trout, usually rather small fish rather than good food fish. Sea-run char enter the lake to some extent, via a stream that flows out of the lake and merges with Hrolleifsdalsá, which is a good sea-run char river. The whole season is good fishing, but especially in May and June. It is best to fish on the east side of the lake, below the farms, where streams flow into the lake.

Accommodation & Facilities

There is no camping area by the lake, but it is planned to establish such a facility

Other accomodations

It is also possible to rent a cottage near the lake and it pays to book it well in advance via the fishing guard.

Fishing rules

The landowner is not liable for any damage that the holders of the Fishing Card may suffer or anything else that may arise in connection with the presence of hunters in the relevant fishing area. Good manners are a must. All driving around the property must be in consultation with landowners. Anglers are asked not to leave rubbish. Cardholders must register at Hraun and must show both a fishing permit and an identity card. Children under the age of 14 fish for free accompanied by a cardholder.

Fishing is only allowed in the land of Hraun. There are signs that show the fishing boundaries
