What can be fished

Description

It is hard to find a more beautiful fishing area than in the area of Alviðra by Sog. It is a favorite for many anglers because of its breathtaking natural environment and big salmon, which are occasionally seen on the “wave”. They have caused many sleepless nights for anglers. Here, as elsewhere in this large spring fed river, fly fishing is the best technique. Whole days are sold, from the morning to evening and as Alviðra is close to the capital area, it is ideal to meet in the morning and fish until the evening. This is undoubtedly a very underestimated area.

Accommodation & Facilities

Fishing cabin

Anglers get to stay in a spacious, charming, and newly renovated self-catering house. It provides three double rooms, a spacious open living room with dining area, a well-equipped kitchen, and a shared bathroom with a shower. A terrace on the south side of the house has a grill and a dining area. Life jackets are provided and recommended as the river is deep in parts and the current can be strong. Fishing the Alviðra-beat of Sogið is especially suitable for smaller fishing parties.

Cleaning can be provided upon departure. Fishing guides and a private chef can also be arranged upon request. Please familiarize yourself with house rules and fishing rules upon arrival.

Fishing rules

It can be dangerous to wade the river and it is advisable to use a life jacket (this is advice, but not a rule).

All salmon must be released, but Arctic char may be taken.

Directions

The fishing beat is the west bank of Sogið in the land of Alviðra and the east bank below the bridge by Þrastarlundur.
