What can be fished

Description

The fishing area Efri Brú is probably the best in Lake Úlfljótsvatn. There is a considerable current in the channel between Flatey and Kvíaness, which often holds huge Arcic char and very good brown trout. It is good to use a large strike indicator and a very long leader and upstream the channel with heavy nymphs. Before the days of the power plants, there was a waterfall with a drop of about a meter. It was considered a spawning ground for brown trout in the autumn.

Fishing rules

All brown trout should be released and all char 45cm and larger as well. The quota for char is ten fish per rod. Life jackets are in the area and people are encouraged to use them unconditionally

Directions

The area is in the southeastern part of the lake and extends from the old shed at Kallhóll down to the fence at Kvíanes
