Description

Vatnsholtsvötn are two adjacent lakes in Staðarsveit. They are 0.6 km² in area, 4 m maximum depth and 6 m above sea level. Highway 54 lies to the south of them. In the lakes, Arctic char and brown trout are caught as well as sea trout in August. Few trout are caught but up to 10 char a day are caught. The char is usually approx. 300 g, up to two pounds and trout and sea trout approx. 2 pounds, although larger fish are caught. It is best to catch the char with a fly and worm, but the trout prefer the worm and spinner. The sea trout usually take spinners.
